Palms and Tropicals Nursery situated in 9 Monarch Road in
Westville, RSA originally started as a plant collecting operation to make a garden around our newly built house. Over the years we managed to collect a lot of interesting and rare plants that are producing seeds these days. This developed into a professional operation, employing 4 full time staff members.
As we do not import plants for immediate resale, our plants are acclimatized to local conditions. We do mail order within SA. We also export all over the world and can supply the necessary documentation for exports.

Palms

We stock a large variety of Palms for sale. From seedlings in community pots to larger specimen plants for your landscaping varieties.

We stock Royals palms , Bamboo palms etc. Also the rarer types like Flame- thrower and Lipstick Palms.
Our plant lists have botanical names to avoid misunderstanding .

We grow and supply a large range of Philodendrons,
Anthuriums, Alocasia and Colocasia plants . We have competitive prices as we grow the plants from our own seed supply form our stock plants

Heliconias & Gingers

We stock selected Heliconias and Gingers . The most popular one is Heliconia rostrata with long lasting Pendular flowers . On the Gingers we have big stocks of Zingiber spectabilis – The Honeycombe Ginger. Both of them produce very showy and long lasting flowers.

Ravenala

Ravenala madagasceriensis , commonly known as a Travellers Palm, is the National Tree of Madagasoar, It’s a showy and easy to grow feature plant for your garden. They grow in a distichious way ( in one plane only) don’t use a lot of space and are ideal for hedges to create privacy. They need to be grown in full sun.

We can supply specimen plants up to 2 m in height.

Seedlings

We grow large quantities of seedlings in community pots at reasonable prices. Mainly different palms and other bits and pieces. A community pots is where between 20 and 200 seedlings Grow in the same pot. The seedlings need to be separated once they have grown to a certain size
Minimum order per type plant is 20 seedlings. Enquire for names, sizes and prices .

Seeds

We supply only fresh seeds , mainly Palm and Strelitzia seeds when in season . We supply locally and internationally, and can organize all Documentation.
For international orders we use air cargo for transport.

Plant Rental

We supply plants for short term rentals for exhibition, weddings, parties etc .
We mainly have Bamboo palms in 5l bags. We can supply the plants in 25 cm white pots. Otherwise we have lots of stocks of different plants and sizes.

Delivery: We delivery in the Durban area. Other areas negotiable.

Succulents

We stock medium to large sizes of various Pachypodiums and Adeniums and a few others. We can courier to your place in SA.

Flowing Tree's

We supply or can source a wide range of Flowering trees. Some indigenous, some exotic. Contact us for your requirements.

Aquatics

We stock Waterliles, Typhonodorums , Thalias (Alligator flags), Various Alocasis – Colocasias for water features. Summertime is the best time as a lot go dormant in winter.

Mail Order and International Orders

We can supply plants via Mail Order. We usually use Courier Guys Or Post Net for courier services. The plants will be packed in Polystyrene Fish boxes for plant protection .

We usually ship on a Monday to prevent the plants sitting in a ware house over the weekend.

With lnternational Orders we require an import permit from the importing country. With the import permit we can raise a phytosanitary certificate for the plants. We only do air cargo with plants and seeds. If any other permits or certificates are required we do our best to acquire them.
During the summer month we deliver in Johannesburg and Pretoria at least once a month. ln Cape Town we deliver mid January. It is much better for us to deliver the plants physically to those places as larger plants are difficult to pack and there is no transport damage.

Delivery charges to JHB and PTA are 18%
Delivery charges to Cape Town are 30 %
